Starting your journey as a lash artist? Exciting! 🎉 Having the right tools and supplies can make a huge difference—not just in how easy the application process feels but also in how long your sets last, how happy your clients are, and how confident you feel while lashing.
We know that starting out can be overwhelming (and expensive!), so we’ve put together a simple list of essentials to help you focus on what you actually need—no fluff, just the must-haves!
What Tools Do I Need to Be a Lash Tech?
- Lash Extension Tweezers
- Lash Adhesive
- Lash Extension Trays
- Under Eye Pads & Disposables
- Lash Liquids
- Mini Lash Fan
1. Lash Extension Tweezers
A great set of lash extension tweezers is a lash artist’s best friend! Here’s what you’ll need:
-
A pickup tweezer for your dominant hand—crane or 45° tweezers are super versatile for different type of lashes.
-
Isolation tweezers for your non-dominant hand—straight or slightly curved isolation tweezers are the most beginner-friendly.
Everyone has their own preference when it comes to tweezers, from shape to tension to weight. To lash comfortably and quickly (without hand fatigue), try a tweezer bundle to find your perfect pair!
2. Lash Adhesive
A common mistake beginners make? Choosing the strongest glue without considering their speed or room conditions. 😬
Instead, pick a lash adhesive that matches your working speed and your environment (humidity & temperature). The best way to find your perfect match? Try a lash adhesive bundle or take our Lash Adhesive Finder Quiz!
3. Lash Extension Trays
To start, go for mixed trays in C & D curl.
-
For classic or flat lashes, 0.15mm diameter is the most popular.
4. Under Eye Pads & Disposables
Under Eye pads are a must for protecting the under-eye area and keeping those bottom lashes out of the way.
You’ll also need these disposable items:
✅ Mascara wands
✅ Flocked applicators
✅ Micro brushes
✅ Lash tape
Tip: Store them in a covered storage box to keep them clean and make your workstation look professional!
5. Lash Liquids
-
Lash Primer cleanses natural lashes and improves retention. (If you prefer using a lash shampoo, you can skip priming.)
-
Lash Extension Remover is a must for taking off extensions safely. Cream remover is the best choice for beginners because it stays in place, giving you better control.
6. Mini Lash Fan
A mini lash fan helps:
✅ Speed up adhesive drying
✅ Reduce fumes
✅ Minimise sensitivity for clients
And that’s it—not too overwhelming, right?
